(2) Definitive studies
A rodent lifelong test method will be developed with the
genesis, development, maturation and aging of the neural,
endocrine and immune network taken into account.
Nerve system -- Considering that neural disorder does not
necessarily induce visible organic disorder, initial emphasis
will be placed on behavioral anomalies. The first goal is to
introduce an experimental scheme for assessing the effects of
exposure of the fetus or neonate on the cognition, adaptation
and rewarding effect.
Immune system -- Effects of modifications by chemical substances
of autoimmunity and acquired immunity functions will first be
studies using an autoimmune disease model (e.g. Sjögren's
syndrome known for remarkable sexual difference in humans) or a
model of type IV immune response (an improved version of the
local lymph node assay).
Endocrine system -- In addition to the parameters related to the
reproduction studied so far, functional disorders in maturity (a
model for e.g. early menopause) will be analyzed.
Along with the studies described above, a method will be
explored which will permit to perform the studies in the three
abovementioned fields in an integrated manner with the limited
time and budget. The techniques used for the screening will also
help the definitive study in this context. |
