[Detection and determination limits]
Detection limits are set to 3 ng/ ml for DBP, BBP and DEHP (the
DBP and DEHP levels in the operation blank test can be reduced
as described below) and 20 ng/ml for DiOP and DiNP.
Determination limits are 10 ng/ml for DBP, BBP and DEHP, and 50
ng/ml for DiOP and DiNP.
[Notes]
1 PAEs are used as plasticizers in PVC resin. PAEs have
attracted attention because PVC are widely used in home
appliances and building materials, from which PEAs may be
released. This means that the blank value of environmental
origin can be problematic in PAE analysis, and should therefore
be reduced as much as possible.
The items listed below are known to be effective in reducing the
operation blank of DBP and DEHP from the usual order of 100 ng/ml
to less than 10 ng/ml.
a) Use distilled water washed with n-hexane of the PAE analysis
grade.
b) Heat to 200℃ for 2 h and let stand to cool all the tools
except one-mark pipettes and measuring flask used in the
analysis session, including the trap for the evaporator, and
wash with n-hexane of the PAE analysis grade immediately before
use. Use tweezers when washing the tools. Never touch them with
the hand.
