The division consists of three
sections which conduct a variety of research studies, mainly using rodents, including:
two-years carcinogenicity
tests; chronic toxicity tests; investigation of modification of carcinogenesis; and neurotoxicity
studies of medical drugs, food additives and other chemicals of environmental
significance. The division also performs basic research on the mechanisms
underlying chemical induction of lesions, using such techniques as immunohistochemistry, microscopic image analysis and laser capture microdissection.
