The major mission of this division is to investigate the effects of novel foods and chemicals on biological functions, including metabolism and immune functions and apply the findings to safety and efficacy assessments of these substances. For this purpose, we are developing the novel methods depending on molecular biology and cellular biochemistry. This division is also engaged in the establishment of standard analytical methods for novel substances contained in newly developed foods including genetically modified foods and for allergenic food materials. Furthermore, this division is engaged in the management of RI facilities. |
