The mission of the division is to conduct fundamental and applied research aimed at defining genotoxicity of chemicals in our environments and assessing their genotoxic risk. The focus of the division is on improvement of standard genotoxicity tests as well as on development and validation of new methodology to detect the genotoxic or carcinogenic potency. Further, the division is aimed at understanding the molecular and cellular mechanisms of gene mutation and chromosome aberration associated with the development of cancer and heritable genetic disease.
