DIVISION OF FOODS

The division consists of three sections, in which research on the safety and soundness of foods is conducted. The principal activities are establishment and quality assurance of analytical methods for pesticides, veterinary drugs, environmental pollutants, and metals, and investigations on food deterioration and detection of irradiated foods.

The division is conducting the estimation of dietary intake of pollutants and monitoring of pollutants in foods, and these studies are parts of the Food Contamination Monitoring and Assessment Programme (GEMS/FOOD, WHO).
